Luke and I drove down to Ocean Springs and spent the day with Ellen Gilchrist, I have no idea how we can possibly compress it, watched it with Charlene Moore Anderson last night and she was absolutely enthralled. Time to get to work. Oh, by the way, China Grove will be awarding the first Ellen Gilchrist Prize for Short Fiction in 2014.
The prize is named in honor of Ellen’s outstanding legacy as a writer. Which is why she was our first choice as the featured writer for our premier issue. The prize will be awarded bi-annually and will alternate with the China Grove Prize for outstanding poetry. Both prizes will be initially in the amount of $2000 and will be selected from those pieces selected for publication in China Grove. So the way to enter is to submit a story or poem for consideration.
